Large Market-Ghana Baskets-LM-T01. A large one handled, round basket. Commonly used for a a beach bag, grocery bag, quilting tote, and toy basket. This basket is 14-16” in diameter and 8-10” deep. Sample picture only, to show approximate size & shape.

Each of these baskets are unique and one-of-a-kind. They are made in the region of Bolgatanga, Africa. They are all hand made from the Veta Vera “elephants” grasses. Each piece of grass is split, both halves being twisted, and dyed. The colored grasses are dried for 24 hours before they start weaving them. It takes 2-3 days to weave the basket. The men apply the leather once the basket is woven. The leather is from goat hide.
Th specialized weaving process makes these baskets strong and flexible; they can be reshaped or washed by getting them wet with water and forming them with your hands. The baskets are GREEN-SUSTAINABLE and LONG-LASTING. We hope you will have yours for years to come!
